Applied Psionics
Definition
Disciplined intuitive signal detection used as a practical research and evaluation method — Not a paranormal claim. In Andrei's work, it names the trained ability to perceive subtle structure (model state, coherence, hidden constraint) before it surfaces in language or metrics, and to translate that perception into hypotheses that can be tested.
Why it matters
The word psionics has historical baggage. Reclaiming it precisely — As a craft whose outputs are testable hypotheses, experiments, and evidence — Removes the magical-thinking framing while preserving what is real: trained perception that consistently outperforms surface analysis on complex, partially observable systems.
Example
An evaluator notices a subtle rhythm change in a frontier model's responses before any wrong answer appears. Treated as Applied Psionics: that impression becomes a controlled probe — Repeated across models and contexts — That isolates an evasiveness pattern under a specific kind of pressure.
