Self-knowledge
Definition
Sustained, honest observation of one's own beliefs, values, drives, and patterns until they can be named and revised rather than reflexively obeyed.
Why it matters
Without self-knowledge, intuition is indistinguishable from inherited reflex. The whole second movement of Prisoner of the Mind is about building this slowly, the way you'd build literacy: a few uncomfortable hours every week, for years.
Example
Noticing, after a year of journaling, that the 'fear of failure' you'd labelled as ambition is actually a fear of disappointing one specific parent.
