Definition
Andrei's research framework for evaluating LLM self-expression across three elicitation modes — Abstracted (general, no assigned persona), Identified (under a specific assigned role), and Creative (open-ended, generative prompting) — Currently under peer review at Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence.
Why it matters
A model's self-description can shift depending on how it is asked. The Trinity Framework compares Abstracted, Identified, and Creative self-descriptions for consistency and divergence; it is a self-report methodology, not a direct read of internal computation.
Example
A model's Abstracted self-description of its own limits disagrees with what it reports under an Identified persona prompt — The divergence is a prompt for further investigation, not proof of any specific failure.
